RnB singing group Afro Boys have embarked on a formula aimed at producing as many songs as possible this year. The group which was started in May 2012 has already released a hit entitled “Witinya” which has propelled them to new heights. The duo, Ino and Denis, both students at School of Finance and Banking, have promised never to slip back after they shot to surprise fame this year.
The second song, which they plan to release will be entitled “Ibanga” and they hope it will hit the charts as the previous one. Among the challenges they encounter, they point to piracy and lack of originality among Rwandan artistes as a major setback in music development.
Ino said, “There are so many musicians pirating music it has become difficult to identify which one is original and which one is not.” The group also plays live music, contrary to many local musicians in the country who only do playback shows. Denis said, “Live music is the real music. It gives the audience a chance to know the real voice of the singer without being altered in studio.”
