PGGSS3 NOMINATIONS COMMENCE

All eyes are on the media fraternity as journalists affiliated to entertainment and showbiz in the country sort and pick out the ten candidates who will battle it out in the third edition of Primus Guma Guma Super Star.

Already guidelines for the nominees have already been laid out and include the following:


1. Artist must be at least18 years old
2.He/she must pursue his or her music career in Rwanda
3.He or she must have at least 5 hit songs from 2010 to 2012

 

Apart from the above conditions, there will be nominations of two artists in each of the following categories: RnB, Hip hop, Afro beat, Upcoming artists and female artists. However, the upcoming artists’ category has already sparked a heated debate, with fans questioning how an artist can be an upcoming and still have five hit songs to his/her name, as criterion 3 above suggests.

The reality TV show has had its share of criticism in the past. Observers have accused organizers of lack of transparency, lack of a judge bench and have also complained of its dull nature, supposedly due to the MC, whom many have labeled as inept.

Both Tom Close and King James have won the first and the second editions respectively, narrowly beating hip hop kingpin Jay Polly.
