WHAT WE LEARNED FROM MICO’S ALBUM LAUNCH

WHAT WE LEARNED

The inevitable happened again last week as we were treated to yet another unnecessary album launch by Mico The Best. Several times we have complained about these redundant launching by our musicians but none is willing to heed the advice. And Mico was one of them I guess. From Danny Vumbi to Lil G to Young Grace, we saw a host of our musicians rushing to prematurely launch their albums but still the rest are not willing to learn from their counterparts’ mistakes.  I would take some positives from the bold initiative taken by Mico to quickly launch his, but unfortunately the negatives keep on outweighing the positives.

1. SAVE US THESE ALBUM LAUNCHES

Nothing really new, just the same artistes who appear on stage year in year out, accompanying the one supposedly launching. But do we really get anything new from them? The answer is a bold and obvious no.

2. MAKE IT YOUR SHOW, NOT THEIRS

I was flabbergasted when Mico performed just four songs to his album before hurriedly taking off! Perhaps for the fear of the fans, I don’t know, but whatever the cause there was a feeling of abandonment by the star, who left both King James and Ama G The Black on stage to save his blushes.

3. TIME MANAGEMENT

This has been said over and over, but the pleas seem to be falling on deaf ears. When did 6pm translate to 9pm? It’s a big shame that even the MC arrived late, almost lost and unsure of where to begin from. The mess that marred the entrance made things even worse, and it was not until past 9pm that the show kicked off.
