Government to boost music industry

The government will strengthen music industry through funding and training artists on expansion of their profession, worldwide.

The information was disclosed by the director of culture in the ministry of culture& sports, Lauren Makuza live on the Sunday Night show, broadcast on TV Rwanda.

“The government is ready to support music has the potential to bring in lots of money if done professionally,” said Lauren Makuza.

He added that the first support is a workshop targeting artists, music producers and showbiz journalists which will explain deeply how to generate income from music.

This comes after the government identified various loop holes in local music industry like; poor quality music, low payments owing to poor marketing strategies, and many more.

The government intervention will help artists boost their incomes from music as well as developing the Rwandan society.

Meanwhile, in the near future, Rwandan musicians may have to pay taxes.
