Urban Boyz got it wrong to sack Muyoboke

The news that Muyoboke Alex had parted company with Urban Boyz as their manager was received with shock by all conversant with the happenings in Rwandan showbiz. Having worked with the trio for only one year, Muyoboke was dismissed prematurely, and although he has always insisted it was through mutual consent, sources close to him reveal otherwise. One was quoted as saying, “They (Muyoboke and Urban Boyz) sat down the whole night and so much was discussed. After many consultations, the boys decided to sack him.”

There’s no doubt that those developments will have far reaching consequences on Urban Boyz, whether immediately or in the near future. A look at Muyoboke’s record will reveal the tremendous achievements and success Urban Boyz had, and there is no question that he had big impact to play in them.

Muyoboke made them who they are today from almost nothing to a popular group that has started to echo not only in Rwanda but also across the region. Earlier this year it was rumored that Urban Boyz would do a featuring song with Nigeria’s crew P-Square, but that never materialized for inexplicable reasons. But if achievements were anything to go by as far as judging Muyoboke is concerned, then he would score quite high.

He successfully managed to keep them in Primus Guma Guma Super Star and the odds are for them to win it should they manage to shrug off the stiff competitors that are Knowless and Senderi International Hit. The crew also dominated at this year’s Salax Music Awards, scooping a record three awards. As a result, I can’t imagine a better manager that would guarantee better results than Muyoboke’s which coerces my assertion that parting with him was an unforgivable blunder.
