Most overrated musicians in Rwanda

This comes not as a surprise but as a reality check in our music industry. It’s no wonder that many pundits have always accused the media of wrongly promoting the wrong types of musicians as far as talent is concerned. Corruption scandals that have marred this industry are not new and this is just but a drop in the ocean considering how much the real talented musicians have been suffocated. In this list rwandashow.com looks at some of these musicians who have inexplicably rose to the surface undeservedly.

Lil G

Lil G

When this young boy was sprouting up about four years ago, everyone was anticipating a quick rise in his compositions, his style of music and in general an improvement that would place him at par with the other music heavyweights. However, Lil G has adamantly refused to grow up and has failed to live to the expectations of many. This year he launched his first album entitled Nimba Umugabo, which features a song he did about three years ago! Now, that is not serious.

TBB

TBB

This is a crew that brings together Tino, Benja and Bob. Funny thing is that they have never skipped a single important music event, but all they do is repeat their one popular song over and over again. It’s disappointing that the media has hyped their popularity so much that almost everyone has been led to believe they really deserve it. Apart from Tino who regularly appears in public events as an active member the other two are just spectators.

Mico The Best

Mico The Best

I can’t even believe this fellow is in Primus Guma Guma Super Star. In an exclusive interview with rwandashow.com, deejay Adams, a controversial radio presenter at one of the country’s popular FM stations, hinted that Mico may have bribed his way into the reality TV show. I couldn’t agree more. Mico has nothing on his CV to convince that he deserves to be where he is today. Apart from a few songs here and there, it remains unclear why they are regularly played on our FM stations.

Sandra Miraj

Sandra Miraj

Sandra who? Perhaps as a way of emulating her American counterpart Nicki Minaj, this eccentric lady almost took her name as well, and her make-up and dressing code would strongly suggest she almost look her – to a blind eye. She’s talentless to say the least and she does not merit all the media coverage she receives – not a single bit.
