The Rwandan government will build a magnificent national theater, worth Rwf4 billion in two years’ time. The facility will host different art concerts and talent shows.
Speaking to Rwandashow.com in a phone interview, Director in charge of culture promotion in the ministry of sports and culture, Lauren Makuza said the project had been finalized and Rwa4 billion would be invested in construction works for the theater.
Lack of a theater is a long time challenge for the art industry, artists end up paying expensively for the poorest venues.
“Someone parts with at least USD 2000 equivalent to Rwf1.4 million just to secure a venue for a single show,” says Arthur Nkusi, a standup Comedian.
The facilities that host big concerts include; Remera petit stadium and Gikondo Expo Grounds.
According to the ministry of sports and culture, the national theater will be constructed in Remera, besides Amahoro national stadium, with the capacity to accommodate over 2000 people.
