As Rwanda prepares to for the 20th commemoration of the 1994 genocide against Tutsi, Rwanda cinema center plans to show films related to the tragedy in secondary schools country wide.
The activity will kick off on 8th, April, 2014 to 31st, May, 2014.
Among the movies on the list is, Through My Eyes, about Rwandan youth after 1994 genocide.
The activity aims at teaching Rwandan youth the past and advocating for a better Rwanda through peace, unity and reconciliation.
“The movies will explain more about the genocide and Rwanda’s healing process after the tragedy,” Eliane Umwali Irebe from Rwanda Cinema centre told Rwandashow.com.
Students will ask questions and share ideas after each movie, on the way forward.
Rwanda cinema center is a local movie production company that has made remarkable movies about the 1994 Genocide.
The activity will be covered by local and international media houses like CBS, CNN, BBC and Al Jazeera in collaboration with Rwanda cinema center and Kwetu films.
Rwanda will commemorate the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi for the 20th time. During commemoration period, activities and programs focusing on Unity and reconciliation are emphasised.
