A local showbiz journalist has blasted the organizers of the annual Salax Awards for implicating inexperienced journalism in the nominations of musicians and their classification in different categories. Phil Peter, a journalist at Isango Star FM, believes that everything goes wrong right from the process of nomination to the process of tallying and voting.
He said, “We have so many media houses in the country, yet you find a few are chosen to nominate musicians. That in itself may not be a problem, but when you have people who have little or no knowledge at all as far as our showbiz is concerned, then issues will arise.”
Peter is not the only one to speak out so strongly against the awards with the likes of Tom Close, Dream Boyz, Jay Polly and Knowless among the celebrities to criticize them. Fellow journalists alike including Kamichi have also expressed their concerns saying favoritism is likely to occur during nomination as there is no clear criterion that is known to be adhered to.
