King James has refuted claims that he has abandoned RnB music for Afro beat, saying his singing style perfectly matches both genres of music and that he sees nothing wrong with it. James, who has been nominated in Best Afro beat category in this year’s edition of Salax Awards, feels it’s nothing to cause alarm as his music is still categorized under RNB.
He told rwandashow.com, “There is nothing wrong with that (singing afro beat), is there? Getting a nomination for a song I did does not necessarily mean I have stopped singing my favorite type of music.”
It’s the first time King James has opened up publicly about the issue after numerous inquests by fans who wanted to know how he was nominated under that category of, even though he was nominated under Best New Artist category.
Meanwhile, confusion continues to mount over the fate of Alpha Rwirangira’s stand as far as the annual awards are concerned after the singer had previously stated he would not be taking part in them. But in another twist of events Alpha backtracked; only saying he was misquoted. So far, his candidature still appears in the category of Diaspora Recognition Award, and has shown no hint whatsoever of withdrawing it.
