Rwanda’s Grammy awards dubbed Salax Awards is set to use a staggering 27m Rwf budget for its 5th edition slated to take place on 9th March in Serena Hotel.
The information was disclosed by the chairman of Ikirezi Group Emma Claudine to the showbiz fraternity while selecting the nominees.
“We have planned to use over 27 Million francs which will be used for various event needs including trophies, accommodation, transport of artists and the money which will be added on some awards” says Emma Claudine
She added that artists should not only think about complementary tokens but the trust of the public due to quality music made.
Salax awards event is mainly sponsored by ministry of sports and culture and ministry of youth.
Over 55 presenters and showbiz journalists selected various artists in all 13 categories set to be awarded in 5th edition this year.
However, Ikirezi Group revealed that the category of producer removed will be only based on the video of the year.
Voice of Africa presenter Skizzy urged Ikirezi Group to clarify producers to the public as they tend to only base on shallow information.
“People should be awarded for the best quality work done towards music industry and the society not the popularity as studio engineers” says Skizzy.
The list of nominated artists will be released on Ikirezi Group website before Monday and the voting session will start on Tuesday on Ikirezi official facebook page.
