Rwanda’s guitarist and singer Mighty Popo will be Director of a new music school and arts (SAM) .The school will open late this year.
The music school will be fully sponsored by Workforce Development Authority (WDA) and it aims at boosting fresh Rwandan music talent.
“The school aims at training Rwandan youth with music talent, how to write songs and use musical instruments like guitars,” says Mighty Popo.
Mighty added that the school management will start next month touring the country to discover about 34-35 Rwandan youth with music talent to start with. Education at the school is free of charge.
Mighty Popo just returned from Canada where he lived for more than 20years, while doing music.
According to Mighty, the school has hi-tech music equipments which will be used by the students in practical lectures.
The public and established artistes received well the news to boost music sector because less music knowledge is one of the challenges hindering Rwandan music to cross borders.
