Mani Martin’s Intero y’Amahoro album launch finally took place at Serena hotel in Kigali before a fully packed hall. Having previously postponed the launch that was supposed to take place on 23rd September due to other engagements in the Diaspora, the Afro-beat singer finally staged a show that thrilled his fans from the beginning to the end. Martin who was accompanied by other famous musicians such as King James and Shanel threw the audience into ululation as his powerful voice echoed across the auditorium.
Other celebrities who were present include the recently crowned Miss Rwanda 2012 Umutesi Aurore, the Minister for sports and culture, Hon. Protais Mitali and the president of the senate Hon. Ntawukulilyayo Jean Damascene.
Mani Martin shot to fame in the mid 2000’s when his song Urukumbuzi propelled him to great heights. At the time he was deeply into gospel music, but later abandoned it opting to go secular, a move that many pundits associated to the thirst of gaining popularity, fame and cash. But even then, as he argues, he would have attained those without necessarily taking a U-turn. Martin argues that all songs done, even if they are love songs, are purely Godly, since everything here on earth is God’s creation.
For a full three and a half hours, guests and fans of the singer were entertained by not only him, but also by other renowned musicians such as Patrick Nyamitali, Shanel, Uncle Austin and King James. Most of Martin’s songs preach peace, reconciliation and tolerance.
